Omron Blood Pressure Monitor

From a user.

"While I was being 'processed' in my local hospital for a trigger finger operation they took my blood pressure. I'd never had a problem before, always being 'normal'.

The nurse immediately called a doctor who checked my blood again and sent me to my GP who wrote a lifetime prescription for pills to control my blood pressure. The silent killer missed me. From that day on I've had one at home and check my blood regularly."

Knowledge is increasing fast about just how important managing their own health is. But too often that means expensive equipment used by private clinics. OMRON's response has been to manufacture helpful blood monitoring devices for home-use such as their digital blood pressure monitors.

Knowledge is increasing fast about just how important managing their own health is. But too often that means expensive blood monitoring equipment used by private clinics. OMRON's response has been to manufacture helpful devices for home-use such as their digital blood pressure monitors.

People in their own homes can now easily afford to acquire an Omron blood pressure monitor to measure their own blood pressure. Blood pressure is an important indicator for health conditions. New monitors are now in the marketplace that not only tell you your blood pressure but will record the information on your computer. How good is that?

Lightweight units such as finger- and wrist-type monitors are extremely popular because of their portability. It becomes convenient to keep them in the office, car, home and can be taken on your vacation too.

Without being technical, something known as MEMS technology allows blood pressure monitors sometimes as tiny as your business card to now be available for you to buy. Not that it can be seen but these blood monitors incorporate the world's smallest MEMS blood pressure sensor for measuring blood pressure. The blood pressure sensor is a system that detects the pressure of gaseous materials and liquids.

The blood sensor is very small, nay, tiny yet it's sensitive enough to measure blood pressure from your finger. The secret is in what is internally known as its donut structure created through micromachining technology. Conventional pressure sensors use a totally different configuration known as a disc configuration but the new donut structure enlarges the blood pressure sensing area to something like five times that of conventional sensors.

This enables super-high sensitivity in detecting blood pressure levels. Ambient temperatures seriously affected conventional measurement methods that were based on the detection of pressure changes. To alleviate this drawback the firm OMRON developed a proprietary method that detects electrical capacitance changes which eventually led to the development of a MEMS blood pressure sensor which we now know to be capable of delivering accurate blood pressure readings regardless of environmental conditions.
